So, it's the big day, technically. Although one might consider this still the night before the big day. Expansion 17, House of Thule. I wish more of my rl friends still played EQ1. I wish more of my old EQ friends still played EQ1. With the diminishing amount of friends I have in EverQuest plus the server merge, plus being in a new guild... kinda hard to be as excited as I want to be about this expansion since I feel kinda lonely like those that I want to share the excitement with most don't care and are long gone from the game.
Level cap goes up to 90 with this one. So we all know what that means. I'll be on playing 24/7 with minimal sleep like some kinda crackhead for the next couple weeks. Levels > all else.
Player housing. This could be awesome or suck horrifically. I personally have always loved player housing. Enjoy decorating immensely. However, I've seen BAD player housing like AO or FFXI. And I've seen nice looking housing that was VERY poorly incorporated into the game such as LotRO. With EverQuest's archaic game engine and antiquated graphics I'm holding back my excitement a bit on this till I see it. The guild halls, while useful in some ways, were a huge let down so I'm prepared to be disappointed on this feature.
More space! Ok, yeah this is ALL that matters really. Bags going to be over 10 slots. 16 slot bag free with regular expansion purchase and 20 slot for the collector's editon. Two more inventory slots. Wondering how hard it's going to be to acquire more large capacity bags and if 20 is the max or not. Hope they don't make these like super rare raid drops or something lame. If I could convert all my bags in bank and on my toon to 20 slots I think I'd have an orgasm lol. If you look at my magelo profile you'd understand. I have several complete druid armor sets dating back to the vermi stuff from fear. 40+ familiars, 30ish nimbuses, bout a dozen illusions, half a dozen or more mounts, and couple dozen other random LoN loot things. Enough to make life miserable. Have a hard time making armor upgrades since they require a container slot, can't do slots that require a collection bag or box of any kind, and haven't been able to loot stuff to sell in so many years that I'm beyond flat broke. This extra space is going to change my life.
Then there's the new aa's, new zones, new spells, new mobs, new items. meh. Not so thrilling the 17th time around.
Naturally SOE took down the EQPlayers site that tells when and how long down times are at the same time as the game so there's no way to know when it's up for certain. Usually 2pm or 5pm est in the past unless they screw something up then more like 8pm. With likely hotfix patch downtime and sever crashes the first few nights.
We'll just have to see how this expansion turns out. From what I have seen of the new zones and stuff it certainly beats Underfoot, which basically sucked. Either which way, I'll still have more inventory space so all is good!
